Assignment #2

1)  3 characteristics of a good musical theatre student i am is:

Trying to stay on task- I have some difficulty staying on task but i will try not to get distracted. ex. Talking to friends, going on devices. From now on i will try to stay on task and listen to others.

Talking to others- For dance moves i can’t really dance so i go and talk to maddi for help cause i get confused sometimes.

Creative mind- I can somewhat picture what is going to happen and i can picture how the stage is going to look at the shows.

2) My main goal is to Master Dancing. I suck at dancing and can never get the dance steps and sing at the same time. A way to achieve this goal is by practicing the steps, With someone who knows them or even alone. Another goal i have for myself is to get all the singing parts correct- I sing alto so its hard to sing the part sometimes. A way to achieve this goal is also just practicing.

3)  Its hard for me to notice that I’ve grown since september because I’m just a “backup” so i have no speaking roles or anything. A way that i have grown is in my singing and even my dancing. Its really difficult for me to pull out examples on how I’ve grown. If i was a main speaking role i would say probably memorizing lines. In my case I’m kind of proud of singing- for i am way better and understand the songs a little bit more. Even listening to the CD has helped

Happy Days (Activity #2) Get in the Mindset

Starting off with the music. The music in the 50’s was mostly rock ’n’ roll. most popular music these days is mostly pop and rap. The 'Leader' of music was the king of rock 'n' roll Mr. Elvis Presley.
Second is the fashion. Men/Boys would wear pants while women wore long skirts. Teenage girls in the 50's would get taught to take care of younger children because women would normally be stay at home mothers while the father is out at work.

I searched on the internet 1950's slang and saw that some of their slang is almost the same as ours. such as: Was Up? - (1950)  and Sup? Used today in 2014. Can was a word used in the 50's meaning bathroom. It was also used in the 40's meaning jail or prison. Badass was used in the 50's and today, meaning tough guy or girl. Then there are some weird slang from the 50's such as Bread meaning cash. Most of our slang is 'text talk' such as LOL meaning laugh out loud. "Oh my God" meaning I can't believe it. http://www.daddy-o.us/slang.htm

Hobbies is a big difference. Today teens stay inside watching Tv or playing video games. In the 50's teens and kids actually went outside because TV's weren't popular. They would go and play sports and they would even work on cars and motorcycles.

Current events in the 50’s was the cold war- Competition versing the USA and the Soviet Union, The Korean War- North Korea was invading South Korea, And that Russia could build more advanced thing than the USA for somethings, such as building bombs and building rockets. The major things going on today is  Russia and the Ukraine- The president of russia is trying to take over the ukraine. Isreal and Palestine- Fighting over land.http://www.history.com/topics/korean-war

Happy Days Musical (Activity #1)

Episode : Richie Fights Back.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBWvY-rYKIU
         (Activity #1)

I learned from this episode of Happy Days that there are a lot of famous actors and actresses in the show. Such as Arnold, he is Pat Morita. Also known as Mr. Miyagi from Karate kid. Another known actor is Henry Winkler who plays Fonzie. He is also known for playing Marty Streb (the band teacher) in Here comes the Boom starring Kevin James.

For me ‘ Calendar Girls ' aren't in this episode but for the people who have main roles they could learn that Fonzie is a cool guy thats really laid back and that everyone is scared of him. Richie Cunningham is kind of a nerdy guy, also that he really does act like an older brother with his sister, Joanie Cunningham.

You can tell the time that it was supposed to be. The cars how they are super long at the end, theres a jukebox in the restaurant and a pinball machine! Now a days there would be shooting games instead of a pinball machine, there is no jukebox just music playing off of someones IPod. The girls are wearing long skirts down to their knees, also.

In this episode Richie and his friends (Potsie and Ralph) get picked on. Richie is forced to make the ping and pong noise for the pinball machine until the fonz comes and saves the day! Richie then gets mad and beats up the bathroom (says the fonz) because his date walked out on him. Later Richie decides that he wants to learn jiu jitsu. I like how Richie's father says he'll teach him how to fight so he makes Richie wrap his arm around his neck. Mr. Cunnignham then trys to flip Richie but fails and can't even move him.

I also like how Arnold the restaurant owner teaches the jiu jitsu class and everyone is super surprised. When the funny thing is is that he's Mr.Mijagi the karate kid's teacher in the karate kid! I really liked how Richie just lost it when we was going to get into a fight and was just jumping around scaring the two guys picking on him.

I also found this short nine minute clip featuring mork-A space alien from 2000 years in the future. Mork is played by Robin williams and after Mork and Mindy got their own TV show. I couldn't find the full episode of this one but for the nine minutes that i could see it was pretty funny.

My favourite part of this short clip was when mork kept on turning on the jukebox and the fonz would just have to tap it to make the music stop playing. I also liked the part when Mork "froze" the fonz and sectretly he was just posing later he came back to life and all he said was "ehhhh".

I liked how at the end Mork said that richie was protected by a secret weapon called "the fonzie" in a high pitched voice.
